Trail Sessions

The Scottish wilderness under whatever skies the day gives us.

No stiff studio lighting. No awkward, forced poses. My Trail Sessions are built to capture you, your favourite people, and your dogs completely in your element.

Whether we’re wandering down a quiet forest path, exploring a hidden glen, or bagging a rugged Munro summit, I'm there to document the raw, honest memories of your day out on the trail.
Because my "office" is just the great outdoors, I don't have to worry about expensive studio rent. I pass those savings straight to you with clear, flat rates based entirely on how long we spend out on the path.

How It Works

  • 1. The First Chat:

It starts with a simple message. You tell me who is coming along, whether they're two-legged or four-legged and what kind of scenery makes you happiest, from thick pine forests to dramatic mountain passes.

  • 2. Picking Your Trail:

You choose the adventure, and I’ll handle the camera side of things. Whether it’s a favourite local loop your dog loves or a new route you’ve been dying to explore, we’ll pick a path that fits you perfectly. If you aren't sure where to go, I’m always happy to suggest a few beautiful backdrops to help find the right spot.

  • 3. Heading Outdoors:

We meet at the trailhead and simply head out. I'm just there to tag along on your walk, chat, and explore. When your dog sprints full-tilt through the heather or you pause to take in a summit view, that’s when I lift the camera. You don’t even need to look at me, just focus on the landscape.

  • 4. Getting Your Photos:

Within two weeks of our walk, you’ll get access to a private, clean online gallery. From there, you can easily download every single one of your finished high-resolution digital images, fully edited and ready to share, print, or frame however you like.

The Details

Typically anywhere between 1 to 6 hours, although the same route will naturally take a bit longer with regular stops for photography. For example, a trail that normally takes you 4 hours on a solo trek can easily push closer to 5 hours once we factor in pausing to frame shots, capture the light, and let your dog explore.

If you choose a more demanding, full-day mountain hike, those adventures can take anywhere from 6 to 10+ hours. I will try to match your natural pace on the hill, but we’ll be moving on a relaxed photographer's clock rather than racing to a finish line.

How long are we out?

Absolutely everyone. Because you select the trail, you define the scale and difficulty, whether that is a flat, gentle stroll through a glen, a forest path, a local hill, or a more strenuous mountain climb.

Please note that I am not a mountain guide, and these are not guided treks. I operate strictly as a professional photographer documenting your walk. You remain fully responsible for your own safety, route planning, and decision-making on the hills, just as you would on any normal day out. Think of me as an extra hiking buddy who happens to be carrying a camera bag!

Who is this suitable for?

We embrace it. Heavy clouds and moody skies make for the most dramatic, raw photographs. However, if the weather turns genuinely unsafe or miserable, we will simply reschedule for another day.

What about the Scottish weather?
